ROMsets approaches production like a puzzle, piecing together fragmented elements to create worn-out soundscapes, deconstructed drum patterns, and broken sounds reminiscent of an arcade junkyard. Starting with forgotten game machine samples and drum machine oddities, he meticulously manipulates a ‘bleep’ or background noise into unexpected textures and offbeat musical phrases. This exploration of sound is rooted in a love for the unconventional: while respecting club culture, ROMsets removes its context entirely, creating something both unique and underground. The Welsh-born, Manchester-based producer began his journey in the experimental music scene, drawing inspiration from vintage video games that would go on to shape his signature sound.
